Basic Information on Gas Fire Suppression Systems.

Gas-based fire suppression systems are a fire extinguishing method used especially in areas where electronic devices are heavily used and sensitive and valuable items are present. Special gases are used instead of water to extinguish the fire in these systems.

The most commonly used gaseous fire suppression systems are as follows:

  1. CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) Systems: In these systems, CO2 gas is used to extinguish fires. CO2 gas reduces the amount of oxygen required for combustion, leading to suffocation of the fire. These systems are commonly used in areas where electronic devices are present.
  2. FM200 Systems: FM200 is a type of gas used to extinguish fires. This gas extinguishes the fire by reducing the amount of oxygen needed for combustion. FM200 gas is more environmentally friendly and less harmful to human health than CO2 gas.
  3. NOVEC 1230 Systems: NOVEC 1230 gas is a type of gas used to extinguish fires. This gas extinguishes the fire by reducing the amount of oxygen needed for combustion. NOVEC 1230 gas is more environmentally friendly and less harmful to human health than FM200 gas.

Gas fire suppression systems help to quickly extinguish fires and minimize damage. In addition, the gases used in these systems do not produce any combustion byproducts during a fire, making it easier to clean up after a fire.

There are different ways gas fire suppression systems can operate depending on the type of gas used. The most common ones are:

  1. CO2 (carbon dioxide) fire suppression system: CO2 gas extinguishes fire by reducing the level of oxygen. It is commonly used in enclosed spaces and in areas with high fire risks, such as electrical equipment rooms, machine rooms, archives, and storage areas. However, CO2 gas is harmful if inhaled, so it should not be used in areas where people are present.
  2. FM200 fire suppression system: FM200, also known as heptafluoropropane, is a type of halogenated gas. Instead of reducing the level of oxygen, it works by inhibiting the chemical reaction that fuels the fire. This system can be used in areas where valuable equipment and documents are stored, and can be safely used in areas where people are present.
  3. Inergen fire suppression system: Inergen is a gas mixture that is similar in composition to atmospheric air, and extinguishes fire by reducing the level of oxygen. However, since the oxygen level does not become dangerously low, it can be safely used in areas where people are present. Inergen systems are commonly used in data centers, banks, hospitals, hotels, and similar places.
  4. Argonite fire suppression system: Argonite is a gas mixture that is similar in composition to atmospheric air. It reduces the level of oxygen while being safe for use in areas where people are present. Argonite systems are commonly used in industrial facilities, archives, kitchens, paint shops, and similar places.

These systems are used in various areas with the risk of fire and provide an effective solution for extinguishing fires. However, it is important to seek expert opinion for the proper selection and installation.

Gas fire suppression systems are commonly used in industrial and commercial areas. These systems can be used in various places such as data centers, museum storages, medical device storages, telecommunication equipment rooms, power generator rooms, industrial kitchens, oil and gas refineries, chemical plants, and so on.

Gas fire suppression systems are generally used in industrial and commercial areas. The areas of application of these systems may include data centers, museum storages, medical device storages, telecommunication equipment rooms, power generator rooms, industrial kitchens, oil and gas refineries, chemical plants, and similar places.

Gas fire suppression systems work by releasing a specially designed gas or mixture into the room when a fire occurs. This gas may contain special chemicals with fire extinguishing properties. The discharged gas rapidly fills the room, reducing the oxygen level and thereby stopping the progress of the fire.

Gas fire suppression systems offer several advantages over other fire suppression systems. These include a fast response time, maintenance of a clean and non-toxic environment, protection of electrical equipment without damage, and extinguishing of the fire with minimal damage. However, these systems can be costly and may require specialized training for their use.

Gas fire suppression systems are typically used in places where the risk of fire is high and the use of water is not appropriate. These systems extinguish the fire by using a predetermined gas (typically CO2, NOVEC 1230, FM200, or argon) when a fire occurs. These gases are preferred due to their high fire suppression capacity and neutralization properties.

Gas fire suppression systems are integrated with fire detection devices, and when a fire is detected by the detection device, it opens the gas spray nozzles in the fire area. The sprayed gas reduces the oxygen of the fire, stopping the combustion process. These systems are ideal for protecting electronic devices, data centers, archives, and other sensitive equipment.

As gas fire suppression systems do not use water, they minimize the damage caused by fire. Additionally, since gases used are not harmful to the environment and human health, the use of these systems is considered safe.

FM200 fire suppression system is known as a type of gas-based suppression system used to extinguish fires. This system is designed for fast extinguishing of fires and is typically used in areas where valuable equipment, electronic devices, or sensitive materials are present.

The FM200 fire suppression system consists of the following components:

  1. Gas cylinder: FM200 gas is stored in a special cylinder and released during the fire suppression process.
  2. Detectors: Fire detection devices can automatically activate the system when a fire is detected.
  3. Control panel: The fire suppression system control panel detects a fire detected by the detectors and activates the system.
  4. Discharge nozzles: Special nozzles are used to ensure proper distribution of the gas.
  5. Pipe line: Pipe lines are used to ensure proper spread of the gas from the discharge nozzles.
  6. Alarm systems: With the activation of the system, an audible and visual alarm is triggered for people to evacuate the area.
  7. Operation station: These stations are used to monitor the gas cylinder pressure and the system’s operating status.
  8. Safety valve: A safety valve used to control gas pressure.

The components of the FM200 fire suppression system work together to help extinguish fires quickly.
