How is communication established in burglar alarm systems?

All burglar alarm systems detect unwanted guests such as burglars through various sensors they use. After detection, sirens automatically come into operation. Flashing and audible alarms inform people in the area. But what if we are not in the area where the alarm is installed, and we cannot see the siren or light of the alarm system? How can we be informed about whether our burglar alarm system is active or not?

Communication and messaging in burglar alarm systems are generally done in two ways: telephone lines and internet protocol (IP) based systems.

Telephone lines are the most common communication method used by burglar alarm systems. Alarm systems usually send alarm signals directly to the security center using the telephone lines of the users’ homes or workplaces. This method is reliable, but it also has some disadvantages. For example, if the telephone lines are cut, the alarm system cannot send a signal to the security center.

IP-based systems communicate and send signals to the security center via internet connection. The advantage of these systems is that they can send signals quickly and reliably. In addition, communication via internet connection is less expensive than using telephone lines. However, when the internet connection is cut, alarm signals cannot be sent to the security center.

Today, many burglar alarm systems can communicate using both telephone lines and IP-based systems. This makes the systems more secure and reliable, and provides users with an alternative method to transmit alarm signals.

We can track our burglar alarm systems with telephone dialers or GSM dialers. In this article, we will try to provide information about telephone dialers and GSM dialers used in burglar alarm systems.

The Telephone Dialer Module in Burglar Alarm Systems:

The telephone dialer module is a unit that is connected to the alarm panel and enables the unit to call the fixed or mobile phone numbers designated in case of an alarm. The telephone dialer module can also record voice messages and deliver them to the called number as an alarm message during an alarm. Although modern alarm system panels have communication or telephone dialing features, these units are still widely used today. Telephone dialer modules use existing landline phone lines to make calls.

If a burglar alarm system panel does not have a phone call feature, a phone call module must be used without exception. Although it is possible to give a warning with the alarm siren with sound and light in case of an alarm, it is not sufficient from a security point of view. This situation is contrary to the logic of the alarm system. An alarm system must be connected to an alarm monitoring center or a system must be created to inform the relevant people using a phone call device.

Burglar Alarm Systems GSM Dialer Module:

The GSM dialer module in burglar alarm systems is a unit that enables the calling of fixed or mobile phones that are determined in case of an alarm by being connected to the alarm panel. With GSM dialer modules, voice recording can be made and an alarm message can be transmitted verbally to the called number during an alarm. Although burglar alarm system panels now have communicator or telephone calling features, these units are still widely used today. GSM dialer modules use existing terrestrial phone lines to make the call.

It is a unit that is generally used in places where there is no fixed telephone line and where a fixed telephone cannot be connected, and which is far from settlements. In some places, it can be used because it is more secure than fixed lines to prevent situations such as cutting the line by accessing telephone lines during an alarm. The product is a very expensive unit compared to telephone dialers. Therefore, it is not commonly used in burglar alarm systems, except for special projects or mandatory situations.

Telephone dialers or GSM dialers can directly call the alarm owner, or connection can be made to alarm monitoring centers called AHMs using these devices. If necessary, relevant security forces can be informed by monitoring the alarm from the alarm monitoring center.

In addition to all these, with the development of the internet, alarm systems can be connected to the internet using network units, and you can monitor your alarm system and receive alarms remotely from your computer or mobile phone via the internet.
