General Information about Emergency Announcement Systems.

Emergency announcement systems are installed for the purpose of making audible announcements, broadcasting music for various purposes, and issuing warnings in case of emergencies.

For example, in a shopping mall, music can be broadcasted to provide visitors with a pleasant time. It is also used to inform visitors or make announcements about important matters in the mall. Of course, the most important feature of emergency announcement systems is their ability to automatically or manually activate in case of emergencies and provide voice guidance about the emergency. With the help of emergency announcement systems, people can be safely evacuated by providing voice guidance. Emergency announcement systems can also work in conjunction with emergency systems such as fire detection systems.

The size of the emergency announcement system to be installed is determined by the acoustic condition of the installation area, the specific requests of the end-user, and the system’s intended purpose. Based on technical research conducted in the field, it has been determined that when an alarm is triggered in emergency systems such as fire detection, warning people with sirens alone can cause panic and chaos. The uncertainty of a siren sound can increase people’s panic level. Therefore, emergency announcement systems should be preferred to evacuate people safely and quickly without causing panic and chaos. In emergency announcement systems, messages to be broadcasted in emergencies can be recorded and broadcasted in case of emergency. People can easily understand these messages, enabling the group to quickly evacuate the area.

Emergency announcement systems consist of speakers in the field. Speaker selection is determined according to the environment; suspended ceiling type speakers should be used in an area with a suspended ceiling. In suspended ceiling speakers, fire protection covers or fire protection pots, which are insulated against fire, should be preferred. For example, wall-mounted areas should use wall or column-type speakers. In outdoor areas, horn-type emergency speakers should be used.

The emergency announcement speakers used must be EN-54 approved. Since these systems are used in emergencies, no product that does not have an EN-54 approval should be used. If the system does not work in an emergency, there will be no point in installing the system. Therefore, an emergency announcement system must have certification. Also, the EN certification should be present not only in speakers but also in all devices. These include system central units, emergency amplifiers, and all other devices in the system.

An emergency announcement system should have a central management center. This center is usually a rack cabinet where all the equipment is located. Although the equipment may vary from brand to brand, it generally consists of a system central unit, amplifiers or amplifier groups with suitable capacities according to the number of speakers, music sources such as MP3, power supply units, and battery groups. The selection of the central system is determined by the number of speakers in the field and the number of zones in the system. The amplifier selection is based on the power of the speakers in the field. For example, if there are 300 speakers in our project and they are powered by 6W, we need 1800W of power (6×300). Of course, it is more accurate to select the power slightly above this amount, so the system can be designed with a 2000W amplifier or two 1000W amplifiers.

The placement of speakers in the field requires separate calculations. How many zones should the system have? How many speakers should be in each zone? What should be the cross-sectional area of the speaker power cable for each zone? What are the acoustic calculations? There are many details to consider. In our future articles, we will try to share detailed information on these topics.

Here is an example of an automatic emergency announcement in case of a fire:

IN TURKISH: “LÜTFEN DİKKAT BİNAMIZDA BİR YANGIN BAŞLANGICI VARDIR. SAKİN OLUNUZ VE EN YAKIN YANGIN MERDİVENİNİ KULLANARAK TOPLANMA ALANINA GİDİNİZ. GÖREVLİLERİN TALİMATLARINA UYUNUZ”,

IN ENGLISH: “ATTENTION PLEASE! THERE IS A FIRE HAZARD STARTING IN OUR BUILDING. PLEASE REMAIN CALM AND GO TO THE ASSEMBLY AREA USING THE NEAREST FIRE STAIRS. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS OF THE APPOINTED STAFF.”

After announcing both the Turkish and English versions twice, the siren will be activated for another 15 seconds. The announcements will continue until the building emergency manager decides to stop them.

Emergency announcement systems are communication systems designed to convey information quickly and effectively in emergency situations. These systems are used in buildings, airports, shopping centers, schools, hospitals, and many other institutions. Emergency announcement systems typically include components such as speakers, amplifiers, microphones, and sound recorders.

Emergency announcement systems are used to provide information and instructions quickly in case of emergencies such as fire, earthquake, terrorist attack, flood, etc. These systems are designed to quickly disseminate important information related to emergencies. Therefore, emergency announcement systems are a very important communication tool that can save lives and reduce damage.

Emergency announcement systems are usually controlled from a central monitoring station. The monitoring station must have all the necessary information to respond quickly in case of an emergency. The emergency announcement system is usually integrated with a fire alarm or other emergency alarm system. This integration allows all systems to be activated simultaneously in an emergency.

Emergency announcement systems are very important for saving the lives of people in public places. These systems can help people move in the right direction quickly and effectively by providing information in all kinds of emergency situations.

Emergency announcement systems are a communication tool used to ensure the safety of the public and staff in case of emergencies. These systems are used to inform, direct, and warn the public during emergencies such as fire, earthquake, flood, or terrorist attack.

Emergency announcement systems consist of announcement control units, speakers, microphones, cables, and power sources. The announcement control unit is a computer or control panel controlled by the emergency manager. Announcement messages are prepared and controlled on this panel. Speakers are used to broadcast emergency announcements to the public. Microphones allow emergency managers or other authorities to broadcast emergency announcements to the public.

Emergency announcement systems are usually used in large shopping centers, airports, hospitals, schools, stadiums, and other crowded places. These systems are a critical tool for ensuring the safety and direction of the public during emergencies.
